Prior to studying Fine Art at the Slade School, my work had been figurative, with drawing an essential element.
Whilst a student, I developed an interest in abstraction and performance art, for a time working with artist Stuart Brisley on his collaborative events and performance pieces. Theatre and performance remained a powerful influence throughout my years as a teacher in secondary education and has since found a place as subject matter for much of my work. On leaving teaching in 2003 I began to study etching and returned to figuration in drawing, printmaking and painting. The themes or subject matter in my work have emerged naturally and include, amongst others, gardens, ruins, people, landscapes and still life. I have recently begun to work more deliberately in series and this has resulted in the 'Leavings' set of prints and the 'Street Music' set, both of which are ongoing projects. I hope you enjoy looking at my work. For further information or to discuss making a purchase, please email me: [email protected] |
